Statistics
Statistics.
As I mentioned in another post, I used Matomo to analyze the server log files for my statistics for some time.
However, I've noticed over the past few weeks that I rarely look at these statistics anymore.
My web host provides AWStats for analysis—in addition, I use Cowaxess to analyze the log files on my computer.
With these two tools, I have a good overview of my websites’ performance.
Cowaccess can be configured to work with WinSCP so that the log files are downloaded from the server daily (as a job via the Windows Task Scheduler).
These files are then automatically unzipped, and the corresponding reports are generated.
The entire process is implemented using a single batch file:
- WinSCP retrieves the log files
- 7-Zip extracts these
- Cowaxess generates the reports as HTML files
That's why I've decided to save myself the time it takes to maintain Matomo in the future.
I don't have an e-commerce site, nor do I earn money from my websites in any other way. I'm mainly interested in the visitor numbers themselves.
Update:
I also use Statify with WordPress. That way, I can keep an eye on visitor numbers right in the WordPress dashboard.
If you're looking for a little more, I also find Slimstats for WordPress quite interesting.
